Marino Ballena National Park “Whale Tale”
The park is recognized because it receives the visit of humpback whales during their crossing for reproduction from the cold seas of the northern hemisphere to Costa Rica (December to April) and vice versa, and from the cold seas of the southern hemisphere to Costa Rica (July to November ) and vice versa, also to reproduce. Although the park mainly extends in the maritime area, it also has within its protected areas a series of beaches of special beauty, among them we can mention, Playa Ballena, Playa Bahía Uvita, and Playa Piñuela.

Sierpe Mangroves
This area has a great biological variety and an incalculable cultural heritage. It is represented by a forest ecosystem, which is periodically flooded by the action of the tides and where there is an appropriate supply of sludge, rich in organic matter.
It includes the largest and most important mangrove forests in Costa Rica. It is prolific in vegetation and has a great variety of associated fauna such as mollusks, fish, aquatic birds, and mammals. Site of feeding, reproduction and refuge for a large number of species of wildlife, both marine and continental.

Boruca Territory
The Boruca Indigenous Territory is one of the two indigenous territories of the Boruca ethnic group that exist in Costa Rica, the other being the Curré indigenous territory. It is located in the canton of Buenos Aires, province of Puntarenas.
Agriculture is based on the cultivation of corn, beans, rice and tubers as well as the raising of cattle, pigs, horses and poultry. They produce handicrafts with cotton fabric, baskets, bows, spears or balsa wood masks. Most of the land is used for coffee growing, grains and protected areas.

Uvita
Uvita de Osa is a small town in southern Costa Rica, on a section of the coast known as Costa Ballena (Whale Coast) of the Pacific Ocean. It stands out for hosting the annual musical event (Envision Festival) and for hosting the Cola de Ballena (Whale’s Tail) beach (Playa Uvita), which is one of the beaches that make up the Marino Ballena National Park. The whale’s tail has been described as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Uvita is a good place to see humpback whales in the wild.

Tortuga Beach
Playa Tortuga is the closest beach to Terra Lodge, it is in front of the town and its sunsets are beautiful. It takes 9 minutes to get there from Terra Lodge. There is also the volunteer center “Reserva Playa Tortuga”, a biological reserve with volunteers that is a research center and refuge for turtles and other species.
The view on the ocean and the forest is stunning. We got a warm welcome form Susana and Dando. There were extremely friendly et thoughtful.
